Leave the year off. This is the one place Christmas gifts differ from wedding and housewarming gifts. A year ties the object to a specific December rather than to the household, and there is no event being recorded, because Christmas happens annually.

Which design suits a family

Script is the default here. It reads as a home in a way that block capitals do not, and a Christmas gift for a family is asking to feel domestic rather than ceremonial.

One thing to know before you pick it: the Script layout sets the name possessively and engraves the apostrophe for you. Type Whitfield and the board comes out as The Whitfield's. That is the layout doing it, not a spelling choice you are making. If you want the plural The Whitfields with no apostrophe, order the classic last name layout instead, where the text is engraved as you type it.

Christmas Eve 2026 falls on Thursday 24 December. Working backwards:

Order by Friday 11 December and the plan has slack in it. Production runs Friday 11, Monday 14 and Tuesday 15, so the parcel ships on Tuesday 15 December. Six days in transit puts it on the doorstep around Monday 21 December, two clear days before Christmas Eve.

Tuesday 15 December is the last date the arithmetic allows. Production Tuesday 15, Wednesday 16, Thursday 17; ships Thursday 17; six days in transit; arrives around Wednesday 23 December. That works on paper with nothing to spare, in the month when carriers are least likely to give you any.

So: 11 December if you want it handled, 15 December if you are willing to watch the tracking. Either way order before 14:00 CT, and if you are already past those dates, say so in the order notes. It is a one-person workshop, so a rush is sometimes possible when it is asked for rather than assumed.
